Peat




When GB came to the Island nearly forty years ago a high percentage of the local population and some of the incomers - as he was then - cut their own peats and used it as their main winter fuel. Nowadays the peat banks still being cut are few and far between.

From the mid 1970s - GB and our family turning his peats to help them dry:-

This year I hardly saw a single person at the peats.
