It's about 6.25 in the evening and Dave is kindly coming over to pick me up to take me to dinner with him and Pat. They live across the valley 0.76 miles away as the crow flies but 1.5 miles by road. I've just time for a quick cigarette in the garden but it will have to be quick - the car's not in their drive so he must be on his way over.

Dave is down on the shore taking Briagha for her morning walk. With long distance lenses and binoculars and telescopes all over the place there's no escape!
