Every cloud has a silver lining
When asking the question yesterday about whether views like this were worth some of the downsides of Island living I should have pointed out that in addition to the views are the people. Everyone one comes across is so welcoming and friendly and one has the feeling that if one asked a favour it would not just be given but that the giving would be a pleasure to the person being asked. OK, I have a met a limited number of people and they are GB’s friends and acquaintances but even so there is a warmth about the Island folk that seems lacking in modern urban living. The fear of strangers that so affects people on Merseyside nowadays is lacking. If you walk along the road everyone says ‘Hello’ and comments on the weather. There is no giving people the cold shoulder here.
